iso file save
Rendered a blue ray project and am left with a .iso file.
If I want to copy this file, not the image, to save on a seperate disc for safe keeping, does this storage disc also have to be blue ray and able to hold the original movie capacity?
I think platinum 9 has the capability to make movie from existing file, would that include this .iso file

Did you use the Make Movie or Burn Disc feature?
I think both of them give you the option to only create a disc image file (ISO) or do the burn as well.
There’s not much point in burning the ISO file to disc as a file – you might as well just create a proper BD disc. You can’t play the ISO file in a BD player, and the contents will technically be the same anyway.
You can use Movie Studio’s “Burn Disc” feature to burn one or more Blu-ray discs from the ISO image. Just select “Burn existing image file” and browse to the ISO file.

What I see that I can use the veas software to make a blu ray copy using the .iso file.
What I wanted to do was copy the iso file to a disc for back up.
The film is 27 gig, 3.5 hours long.Would I need to use blue ray media to hold the file as back up?
Would I need to have the same room available for the iso file as needed for the rendered blu ray film.

I don’t know for sure, but I guess that you will need a little bit more disc space to hold the ISO file than the video files. For 27GB, you probably need to use a dual-layer disc for the ISO or the video.

Would I be correct in thinking that it will take less time to copy the iso file than it did for the original render (37hrs)?

Wow, that was a long render!
Writing the ISO file to Blu-ray will depend on the speed of your BD drive, but it will be only a matter of minutes. For example with a 8x write speed, 27GB would probably take around 15mins.
Once you have the video rendered (to an ISO file or as video files), you can write copies/backups quite quickly.
