Mark, after Tom’s reply yesterday I made the exact same preset and did a test on about :30 of the entire 12 min. video. The result looked really clean and scaled nicely. I was pleasantly surprised. Although I was only able to view 1-2 sec. at a time during playback in FCP on the 40″ Sony.

I think its time for a new RAID array. What’s weird is that I’ve been able to playback uncompressed HD @ 1080 before on my RAID O, but for some reason this one would playback clean. Maybe my disks are getting full.

thx Stephen, the first does not work. The Add composite mode lets the image shine through the logo bug.

But method 2 seems to have worked just fine. Never would have thought of that. So the Luma Key just keys out the darker areas of the lens flare and entire frame thus creating the alpha channel?

Well, even if my interpretation isn’t correct, it work either way. Thanks for the help.

Thx Stephen. Looks like exactly what I need but its 600 bones. Don’t think I can get my boss to approve that one. Even with the new CS5, there’s no way to do this? I love an use MOTN a lot but am also learning AE. Can this be done easier with AE CS5?

Was she light properly. The problem looks like there’s not enough brightness to her. I think Lee was on the right track with his suggestion. CC the overall clip first by balancing the image. then work on a secondary CC by masking her out and using the color limiter. Try duplicating your track and using one of the composite modes to help brighten it up. From there you might be able to make her pop a bit more.

I’m sorry guys, none of these things are working. I know that once the camera is selected you can see the min and max, but as then you can’t see the layers. Can if you select the layers, you can’t see the camera angles.

There has to be some preference thing to turn on. This screen shot was from episode 51 of MBKS. Below. His TOP view shows grey lines where the layers are. I could use the guides but I have many layers and that will just clunk up what I’m viewing. How can I get these same lines to appear and or why are they not there.

thats what i am doing. and its still difficult to see when your in focus. I really want to be able to see where my layers are, just like in the picture. I know its possible because that image was taken from a Motion tutorial from Mac Break Studio with Marc Spencer.

Update, so I’ve just noticed that it only happens when I have External Video turned on for viewing on my 40″ Sony. Is the Blackmagic card causing some issues with diplaying the images. It doesn’t seem to like stills that much, but it plays video just fine.

Thx Tony. My output settings, sequence settings and clip settings always match. I make sure of it. Downloading latest Intensity Driver now. Hope that helps. But its not just output from the card to the TV, but playback in the canvas on my monitor as well.

read/write speeds look normal. see below.
