They told you what they could at the time. Which is that more advanced features would be introduced in quicktimeX. Those more advanced features are very likely the AV foundation that’s at the heart of Lion. Quicktime is pretty much dead as you use to know it and is replaced (in lion) with AV Foundation.

He’s not saying, Don’t complain… He’s just saying Don’t troll threads. Several people are asking legitimate questions, or looking for solutions to problems and those threads are getting Trolled. That doesn’t help anyone. If you feel the need to bitch, Start a thread and bitch, or join another bitching thread. Don’t troll legitimate threads. Also Apple doesn’t read this message board…if you want to get their attention do it through the normal apple feedbak channels.

1) keeping the product under the FCP umbrella as version X (10.0)
2) Pulling FCS 3 off the website/shelves.If it had a different name people wouldn’t be complaining about how it’s different. And if they hadn’t pulled FCS 3 it wouldn’t look like they don’t care about “pro users”. Not having FCS 3 available anymore while FCPX isn’t capable (yet) of workflows that certain people need leaves a serious gap in the customer base for quite some time.

In that context, it’s worth pointing out that Final Cut Pro X is a next-generation video editing application, newly rewritten from the ground up. Yes, it’s missing a few key features in its first release. But Apple will have a far easier time adding those features back in than Avid will have modernizing Media Composer to the same extent. If you’re looking for a platform for the next decade, it’s probably not a brilliant idea to bet against Apple right now.”
Chris, It’s not worth arguing over. People are going to see what they want to see at this point. Responding to people who are threatening to change editors is just wasting your time and resources. You aren’t going to change their minds.

And since there’s no upgrade pricing, and it can live alongside FCP 7, I wouldn’t think it’s an upgrade.
It’s sort of like in Hollywood when they take a Film franchise and totally start it over. Aren’t they doing that with Spiderman, or something. It’s like hitting the reset button. So Apple’s doing that…but with their editing software.
