Would it be possible to make one wiiide precomp, animate ribbon inside it (left to right or vice versa), then apply puppet tool on that precomp in main comp? No 3d and stuff, but super simple.

Why don’t you create mask (or shape)of your trail, and another opened mask (path) With Stroke/Reveal option?
Or make trail on one layer (shape of your trail) and use another layer as a Track Matte to reveal underlying layer. Use Glow with Alpha option for orange glow.

First of all, you don’t need whole picture animated, just lower half, minus rock in the middle. So, make cut picture in four segments, per half and rock – static, small part on the left and bigger part on the right – animated. That will reduce file size drasticly.

As for loop: make in photoshop seamless texture (with Offset) of your smoke and animate one cycle with Effect>Distort>Offset. And that’s it.
Since you reduced file size with static parts, you could increase duration of your animation if you wish…

Not only that. In case that a kiosk is made with 32″ LCD TV inside (which probably is), you need to plan that your animation should be delivered rotated by 90° (CW or CCW, depends on kiosk).

If you REALLY want to do it your way, you can always render your comp, import it and then motiontrack it…
