Yes, you need spherico´s Title Exchange Pro. It converts FCP7 XMLs to subtitles (not sure if it does TIFFs, but it sure creates editable text fields.

I finished cutting a 80 minutes indie movie a few weeks ago, except for a bug syncing audio and video that made me lost 2 days of work, everything was fine. It was shoot with an XDCam and a Canon Vixia, external audio with a Zoom H4N.
I used FCPx to edit, X2Pro to send the audio to Protools and we color grade with Assimilate Scratch I thought I could use Xto7 to export an XML to Scratch, but finally my boss told me to export a full quality Apple ProRes file and let scratch find the cuts. So I didn´t buy Xto7 to test if how well Scratch imports it.
FCPx > $ 300
X2ProLE > $ 60
Xto7 > $ 50
XTI for subtitles > FreeNot bad at all.

It´s free, backups everything you need (and doesn´t backup what you don´t need), very customizable, and can do backups by X minutes/hours/days.

I had the same question today, after a little search I installed backuplist+, is free and it just copies the files you tell it to (events files and project files). Has scheduled backups, limited incremental backups, checksum, works in the background. All winners.

Not FCPx, but if you import the photos to iPhoto, select them and create a slideshow, the process is very straight forward and there are some really cool templates.

Because Apple doesn’t care about pro users anymore. Would you like to sell 1 MacPro por $3000 or 5 unlocked iPhones por $3250. Remember, only the iPhone makes more money than ALL MICROSOFT products combined.
Everything Apple had done for Pros is being forgotten. MacPro with no updates, XServe discontinued, ProApps dumbed down… for them is better to have 10.000 amateurs using FCPx for $300 than 2500 Pro using ¿FCP8? for $1200. With the amateur they have sold 10.000 Macs + $3.000.000 in FCPx licenses…with the Pros would be 2500 Macs with $3.000.000 in FCP8 licences.
Many of the user that moved to Avid/Premiere maybe moved to Windows, but many keep on Mac so Apple will still sell Macs to them… And if they moved to Windows, they don’t need to buy a Windows Phone, I’m pretty sure that if those pro users are Mac fans, have iPhones and will continue buying iPhones while editing in Avid/Premiere.

Right now, you can’t.
The only workaround is to select the clips on your timeline (project) copy them to your clipboard (command+c), create a new compound clip in your event and then paste the clipboard (command+v).
