    Does anyone know if there’s an easy way to import an FCP 7 XML file which creates an video track of TIFF files (subtitles) into X?

    Yes, you need spherico´s Title Exchange Pro. It converts FCP7 XMLs to subtitles (not sure if it does TIFFs, but it sure creates editable text fields.
