There is no “plugin” but I’m sure you have a 75% smpte color bar to use somewhere in Premiere.

The typical sequence here in Montreal is:
    09:59:00;02 Color bar w/tone
09:59:40;00 Slate with commercial number, length, prod
    09:59:50;00 black
    10:00:00;00 PROGRAM

Some broadcasters prefer their commercials on a NON-DROP tape.

1.what “levels” should i set everything to for AE/Premiere Pro CS3
Black no lower than 7.5 and white no higher than 100Ire.
For Saturation, no higher than 100
You better check with the broadcaster for specs

    2. Audio..what levels as well i’ve heard -10 db, -12- and -20 db???
Usually, you will need 2 kinds of meters to evaluate your sound: VU and Peak.
Your sound should not go over -12 or -8 dBs PEAK and be between 0 and -7dbs on your VO meter calibrated at -20 or -18

    3. Format, i have a mini-dv (canon GL2) what are my options, hjow necessary is “beta” i have researched and they are very pricy!! especially for these lower end projects.
Bring your project or final quicktime to a local post facility to get a Beta

Actually, with version 4 of the Kona Software, it now displays the timecode with FInal Cut on you external monitor.

If you have a Kona card with the latest drivers, you can display the sequence timecode on your monitor.

You simply set the TIMECODE tab to Quicktime in the control panel of the Kona Card

The Kona 2 is a PCI-X card so it won’t be compatible with the PCIe expansion slots of the MacPro.

  • I’ve been using the S2VR HD on a TV series for some time now and it’s great. We are working with about 14 hours of footage of DCVPRO HD 1080i (HDX-900) and we can 3 store shows in it plus al the packaging in uncompressed. It runs the DVCPRO HD like a dream. We can also run our HD uncompressed ONLINE from it.

FYI : Each show is 50 minutes long and we edit on a MacPro 2 x 2.3 with 4.5 GB RAM and a KONA LHe.
