Actually, if you need it to be continuous, you want the timecode generator, not the timecode reader.

O’Tay, any idea where that is? It’s not in the video menu.

Enabling that option in the AJA Control Panel ONLY makes TC appear when you use AJA TV to output. It does not allow VIS TC export from within FCP.

    O’Tay. Good one.

It’s right where Walter said it was, it’s called Timecode Generator.

If you don’t see it, go to the Effects > Effect Availability Menu and make sure it’s set to ‘All Effects’

You can use the TC Reader or Generator.
The easiest way is that you nest your sequence and drop the TCReader (Filters>Video).
The TC will be based in the time base of your sequence, so if you need a TC based in 24Fps, you need to work in a 24Fps sequence.

Dang, I’m using FCP 4 and it’s not in the effects menu that I can see.

Oh. Yeah. I think it might have been called Timecode Print or something in FCP4.

I have Time Code Print in the effects menu, this puts VTC on the shot I have selected.

But of course it goes back to zero every time there is a shot change. So this must be where the “nesting” comes in?

How do I “nest” the show? Does all the video need to be on the same track to nest it?

    Thanks
    R,
