The reason I asked for psi is because one time many moons ago I was handed an AE project and everything had a ton of noise… the image’s psi was like 800 or something. Once changed to 72dpi the noise went away.
Granted this was in AE version 4 or something, but it did happen to me once, although I can’t explain… nor do I have the faintest idea why that was the cause… but it was…. anyway….
Without a screenshot of your composition and timeline window, I can’t comment further to the reason behind your extra noise.

In a 3 minute video you should specify when it happens like (1:51 or something like that)
Without seeing it though I can with 99.9999999% certainty his body and/or face was rotoscoped out for the frames in question and then composited for the desired effect.

What is the resolution of the imported images?
e.g. Width X Height + psi.

Make sure your image sequence from 3ds Max is interpreted at 25fps in your project window. To check this, look at the top of your project window with the sequence in question selected, and you will see the fps.
If it is set to import image sequences by default at let’s say 30 fps or 24fps, and your comp is at 25fps, you will see a stutter.

16mm film looks great in HD. When a telecine is done from the original film.
Seinfeld was shot on 16mm. If you’ve ever seen the reruns in HD on Tv they are very crisp and look fabulous.

In HD video you need to make sure it is “Upper Field First”.
