Hi Kiriakos – I’ve got the XS17x5.5BRM lens (which is probably close to the one you are looking at) on my Ex3 and it is fantastic. Being a ‘proper’ lens the focus is great, zooms are silky smooth and you can manually adjust the back focus. The only thing to be aware of is that the camera becomes a bit front heavy, and also you don’t have the steady-shot capability.

I went on Wednesday – had 2 things planned to see – an FSI monitor and some sort of tripod-top slider. Nice to see the FSI monitor ‘in the flesh’ – truly superb piece of kit. Bought a Varavon slider, which is just the business for keeping in the bag. Caught Larry Jordan’s excellent FCPX Colour Correction seminar too. All in all I enjoyed it more than last year.

Hi Michael , I had this problem with Transfer too when I upgraded to ML. I found re- downloading it and reinstalling fixed it and has been working fine since. Btw thanks for the heads up re TopTeks a couple of months back. Found them very helpful.

  • Hi Bill,

In addition to what the others have said, I keep a spare card which contains a variety of footage I know is exactly spot-on exposure-wise in the camera bag (it’s just an SD card in an adapter, but it works). I regularly play this through the EX3 and make any adjustments necessary to the viewfinder controls. I keep my viewfinder controls taped up so they can’t accidentally get twiddled. I find this ‘calibration footage’ really helpful – probably not very scientific, but it works for me.

Well it all seems to have worked just fine today – I’ve evidently been fortunate! Will update this thread if any issues arise.

Thanks Ian – there was only the 1.10 and 1.17 updates available on the Sony website (Canada) – presumably I can’t retrospectively add the other ones then?

Thanks Michael – yes, I have come across Top-Teks, but hadn’t realised they were so close. Actually I have a client in Harefield, oddly enough. Will be in touch with them if my DIY update has not delivered the goods!

  • Yes, definitely Keylight. The best by far. Even though it doesn’t officially support Mountain Lion, their support were very quick and willing to help as I had a bit of bother getting the licence to install properly under ML. They fixed it quickly and all works perfectly.

  • Thanks Jeff – I just went in and made the droplets again inside Compressor (still have the presets) – gives the option to replace existing file, so did that and bingo back they went with proper icon.
    Weird behaviour?!

Was worried that Motion5 was going to cause some problems but sits fine with Motion4 and the rest of FCS3.

    Thanks – Martin.
