Sorry, of course, I should have added more information! sorry. Well, the animation is only about 15 seconds long, on a white background. In terms of the leaf’s movements it needs to be smooth and fluid, so lots of easying I guess, I would like to try and make it drift around the screen before blowing off screen.
It doesn’t need to be any where in particular at any specific time, just to blow off screen at the end.
Are there any built in particle generators, I also have the trapcode one, that would allow my to create one drifting particle that I can replace with my leaf, and alter effect parameters and keyframe them to suit my choice?
Thanks,
Martin. -

March 8, 2006 at 3:34 pm in reply to: Quicktime DV-PAL rubbish render qualisty with text – – – – how can I stop this?Fortuneately (or unfortunately!) for me I do all the editing too, so I’m the one putting up with the no-scrubable clips, but I will remember to use the amination compressor from now as the results have been good, and now that I know the true nature of Sorenson3 I can use the animation one to improve my production workflow.
Cheers! :o)

March 8, 2006 at 1:23 pm in reply to: Quicktime DV-PAL rubbish render qualisty with text – – – – how can I stop this?Yeah, I’ve been checking on a external broadcast monitor and they look good. I was just wondering if there was more the soronsen3 and why not to use it that I would find out later when something went wrong. It seemed odd that people were suggestion not to use it when it was giving fast and good results.
cheers!

I rendered the animations out as uncompressed Quicktime Animation, which playback fine on my computer, and the quality is good too. I used compressor to the convert and compress to MPEG2 after trying a couple of different settings I have found one that works. So thanks for you help :o) I just have one question:
There seems to be some kind of effort to make me not to use sorenson 3, I tried converting this to MPEG2 and its quality is fine too. I know you say its used for the web, but if the results are fine and the file sizes are small, what wold be the suggestion not to use it. Before my previous post I was only using the sorenson3 quicktimes to preview the animations for detail and movement on my computer, surely there is nothing wrong or techically bad with this?
I am just curious as I have found it to be a great compressor.
Thanks.

By “render” do you mean Make Movie? because that’s what I meant by export. Sorry for any confusion, error on my part.
I shall try the Animation and PhotoJPEG settings and then try to turn it into an MPEG using Compressor.
thanks again.

I am just unsure of the settings required to export them as MPEG2 from AE. I use the sorenson 3 compresser if I am displaying the video as a quicktime on a computer because I find it gives far better and cleaner results than any of the other compressors. I’ll give the MPEG to a go and let you know what happens, unless anyone else knows what I need to do.
thanks for your help.

Thanks for all your help. I had to do it last night, but I didn’t find a specific countdown timers, so what I did was some colour bars, a slate with the title, director and producers, then a 10 seconds clock with the last 2 seconds of black.
Thanks again,

I haven’t used image ready before, I have managed to open the .mov in it as a GIF, and I can see all the frames, but how do I export it from ImageReady with the options of changing the image size and such?
Thanks for your help so far, I’ll get there eventually!
