There is a way to do it but not directly:

– Create a temporary bin
– Select all the clips in your sequence and drag to the bin
– If it’s not already visible, right-click on a column header and show the “Speed” column
– Click on the Speed column to sort the clips in the bin by their speed
– For all clips that aren’t 100%, open them into the Viewer then press F to match frame into the current sequence, and the playhead will move to show where they are.

AFAIK there isn’t a filter to do this in FCP so you’d have to send the clip to Soundtrack Pro and phase reverse in there.

If you’re outputting to a 10 bit format then it makes complete sense to me that you’re going to get finer control when grading etc. But what I’ve never been able to get my head around is how an 8bit/10bit/8bit workflow can provide the same advantage.

If you output at 8 bit, then the pixel values can only be what’s available. So wouldn’t all those smooth gradients you get at 10 bit get lost when crushed back into 8 bit? Or am I missing something fundamental here?

No you can’t do asymmetric transitions on FCP. You only get starting at/centred at/ending at options, so you would need to slide the edit point to adjust the timing of the transition.

You can do it with one keystroke:
Shift-F5 to lock the audio tracks

Then there’s no way the source clip audio will go into the sequence, no matter how your track patching is set.

Not really it’s fixed at 10 secs. But what you can do is just hit Tab then type “2.” followed by return or enter and there you go!

Or take it one step further by loading the text generator into the Viewer, change the duration to 2 secs and then drag it from the Viewer to your project tab. Next time you want to use it, open it from your project rather than the Video Generators and you’ll get the 2 secs by default.
