You could try editing your AppleScript to send the files to a Compressor Droplet which would convert them to 48KHz. No QTPro key required for that.

You’re out of luck, they aren’t going to give away free serials. Has there been any statement on FCP4.5 compatibility with Tiger anyway?

What output device are you playing your audio through? The Mac’s internal audio or a capture device? I had similar audio skipping problems when monitoring through Cinewave which made Motion unusable. Swapping to the G5’s internal audio totally cured the problem.

Sure, just have the HDV camera or VTR do a downconvert to regular DV when you capture the footage.

Open the Sequence Settings and set the “Field Dominance” to “None”. This will make FCP render frames rather than fields.

I’m presuming that you can, else why would they have the feature?

Absolutely right Mel. It’s one of those annoying things that must have been designed by a software engineer rather than an editor. Let’s hope that this is fixed in v5.

You sure about this Nick? As I understood it there was only an 8 bit limitation when using transfer modes other than “Normal”, with any other fx rendered in 10 bit.

  • Disabling and then enabling the clip in question will lose the link to the rendered cache if that’s what you mean.
