  • IO Audio Outputs on CH 3 & 4. Help Please.

Posted by Russell on April 17, 2005 at 5:35 am

I’ve hooked everything up to my IO and I’m quite pleased with it, yet I can’t figure out one small issue. I cannot get duplicate audio out of channels 3 & 4 that I get out of channels 1 & 2. I’ve gone through my settings in FCP. In both my User preferences & Sequence settings I’ve added the 2 additional audio outputs (ch 3 & 4) but nothing plays out of these channels.

I’ve looked through the manual but this subject alludes me.

What am I missing here? I’m guessing it’s something pretty simple.

    Thanks for your time!

Yup. They don’t work. Yet. Maybe tomorrow. NAB, Core Audio. QT 7. Tiger. FCP 5. Maybe……

    Russell,
You can get all four channels playing at out at once actually. Control click on the channel you want to output and you will see that now you have made active channels3/4 you get the option to route any of your track to and outputs, analogue or digital.

How’d I miss this functionality? I thought 4 channel out had to wait for the next ver. of QT. Or am I confusing it with *input*?

    Bob,
i think you might be confusing it with input. QT doesnt need to bother with output presumeably. Only when capturing and writing a QT file

…speaking of which, anyone know if Multichannel Audio support in FCP5 will allow us to capture all 6 audio channels embedded in SDI at once? The web site (link below) speaks of support for “professional multichannel audio and video devices” but doesn’t get any more specific.

FCP5 supports capture of up to 24 channels at once.

Yes, I read that on the web site too. My question is whether I can capture the 6 channels embedded in SDI using it.

I’m presuming that you can, else why would they have the feature?
