A TV scanline is the same height as 1 pixel but if you have to measure height of text frequently then you might want to look at our DH_LegalText plug-in which was designed for the purpose.

Is the behaviour applied to the text object itself or the layer that contains the text object?

Great suggestion from Ben. Hopefully you haven’t used the Boris generators to make your subtitles, because the bad news is they can’t be accessed in the XML.

You should be able to open it up in QuickTime Player and export to a movie.

From the scrubbing issue it sounds like it could be weirdness with audio renders.

    – Select all the Audio (ONLY!) clips
    – Press Ctrl-B (to disable the clips and break link to render files)
    – Press Ctrl-B again (to enable the clips)
    – Now try it

    Steve

I had the same issue when I upgraded from v5.1.1 to v5.1.2, which might be the reason in your case too.

If you haven’t remapped your keyboard layout:
    – Choose Tools > Keyboard Layout > Customize
    – Unlock the keyboard layout
    – Click the Reset button
    – The next/previous tab shortcuts should show up on the correct keys

If you have remapped your keyboard layout:
    – Choose Tools > Keyboard Layout > Customize
    – Unlock the keyboard layout
    – Enter “tab” in the command search field
    – Drag “Select Previous Tab” and “Select Next Tab” to the desired key combinations

You shouldn’t need to be rendering the audio. Perhaps your RT track count is still set to the (very low) default 8 tracks.

Final Cut Pro > User Preferences > General > Real-Time Audio Mixing

Make it 32 tracks and see what happens.

#2 Watch episode 1 of our Hot Tips video podcast which deals with clip speed.

#4 You can do this with Replace edit (F11) which simply uses the position of the playheads on Viewer and Canvas to create the edit (no in/out points required). This is mentioned in ep 1 as well. If the playheads are not in sensible positions (i.e. taking into account handles required for any transitions) then the Replace edit can’t be done.
