  • Switching Tabs in FCP.

    In a pod cast that Martin Baker did on Digital-Heaven, he said that in FCP 5.1.2 and later you can now switch between tabs using keyboard shortcut Shift Command Right or Left Square Bracket.

    I can’t seem to get this to work.

    First of all when you hit Shift it changes the Square bracket [ to Wavey Bracket {.

    Either way It doesn’t seem to work. Any Ideas.

    I was really excited to hear this was now an available feature, but upset when it didn’t work.

    Thanks;

    “shift command(apple) [” or “shift command(apple) ]” works for me to change tabs on active window.

    I had the same issue when I upgraded from v5.1.1 to v5.1.2, which might be the reason in your case too.

    If you haven’t remapped your keyboard layout:
    – Choose Tools > Keyboard Layout > Customize
    – Unlock the keyboard layout
    – Click the Reset button
    – The next/previous tab shortcuts should show up on the correct keys

    If you have remapped your keyboard layout:
    – Choose Tools > Keyboard Layout > Customize
    – Unlock the keyboard layout
    – Enter “tab” in the command search field
    – Drag “Select Previous Tab” and “Select Next Tab” to the desired key combinations

    Martin;

    Thanks for the input.

    That did it. It works perfectly now.

    I had my keyboard modified, but the others in the company that weren’t modified didn’t work either so I rest those and they work fine now too.

    Thanks again.

    I know it’s trivial, but that may be my favorite feature.

    I just have to remember to use it now.

    I’m still running 5.04, is this why this solution will not work for me?

    Yes. It was new in 5.1.2
