You would have to save the project files in the shared folder if you want them accessible by any user account:

Yes absolutely, if the original clip was selected before Ctrl-Ving but there’s no need to select the clip in the first place. With no clip selected, Ctrl-V uses the auto select buttons to work out which clip(s) to add edits to.

After you’ve made the cut, press X to mark the clip on the right and then press delete.

Not necessarily. You don’t have to create freeze frames from the sequence side, in fact I always advise to avoid it. Instead match frame to the source clip, then create a freeze from that and edit it into the sequence.
I agree that it would make sense for freeze frames to be the source clip with speed set to 0% rather than created as a separate file.

You can do this in QuickTime Player.
– Open the movie
– Cmd-J to open the properties window
– Select the Sound Track(s)
– Click Delete button

There’s a flip4mac beta release that fixes the QT7.2 incompatibility. Works fine in my experience.
