Unfortunately, I don’t think it would help too much here, as you’d still have to have the newer version in order to open the original AEP.”

Ya, that’s always the catch. Couldn’t quite tell from the original post if that was the case or not.

Well, not true for one thing:

There are the usual (like 19) presets or you can go custom.

That’s a slick Premiere site that I never new existed.

You might be interested in this:
    On aescripts:

It’s sole purpose is to exchange AE projects between versions & OS’s.

The trial version allows full export; to import requires the license. But, what it exports is a simple, csv text file that you can subsequently open & at least see if has your asset paths, etc. Pretty sure it’ll do what your wishing though.

It’s a bit long in the tooth but:

Occasionally goes on sale. Check out the tuts though & see if it’s what you’re thinking. Able to write out to HTML & has a test function in the interface for that if I recall.

    Hey Gabe,

While I can’t comment on the individual components, it looks as if you’re on the right track anyway. I’ve been researching this for some time now. I’ve always built my own systems for decades, but for my “retirement” system next Spring, I’m going with a system from these folk:

    https://www.boxx.com/systems/workstations/t-class

Pricey perhaps but look around at the rest of the site, their client list, testimonials, videos, etc. and understand their design philosophy. They’ve been around for decades, catering to higher end CAD & graphics clientele. If nothing else it’ll give you another perspective.

More and more 3D apps are migrating to GPU processing and that trend isn’t going to change. I’ve several programs now that tax my poor aged graphics card & I have to disable a lot of features & monitor overheating. Definitely not conducive to creativity.

    Ah.

The 21st Century equivalent of spitting in the back & smacking it up along the side.

  • Along a similar vein, has anyone tried or have experience with this script?:

I was looking into this when it looked like I was going to have a ton of work not, only for going between AE versions, but on different OS platforms as well.

Ah. You’ve the “Gear” icon on for all layers. Only have that on for the layer your actually tracking. Once you’ve a good track for that layer, turn the Gear back off.

Ah, the infamous Win10 kerfuffle! I’m getting concerned as I’m gonna get a new system in a few months.

In any case, I don’t have that version of AE, but that aex appears to be something for Cinema 4D if that provides a clue. Perhaps some plug-in needs to be added or path enabled, that sort of thing.

As with most things with AE, have you selected just the one layer first?
