Thanks for the post. It really seems like B&H have been around
for awhile. Thats good! I’ll have to dig into it a little
more, but this seems like an excellent resource. Thanks

Steven,
Awwww dang… Thats what I thought when I read about the MACK
warrenty. Like you, I don’t like to ship my camera away for 2-3weeks.
It would be nice if there was a local rep.
I went to the website you mentioned and got the phone number. Wow,
was that futile…. I just got into the “Press 1 for sales, 2 for service,
3 for joe somebody….” etc… etc… One big voice message loop.
I guess I’ll keep looking for a warrenty package.
Good luck with the move. Orlando is beautiful and you very close
to the ports for all the cruise ships. My wife and I love going on
cruises. Well actually we love going anywhere in the carribean. 🙂One last note, if you figure out your wife’s filing system can you
send me the method? I’m hoping it helps me with understand my wife’s
filing cabinet. (It like the purse, I never go into it)Thanks for the help.

Steven,
Thanks for the quick response. I’ve been looking
at BHphoto and glad to hear that you got yours okay.
Did you purchase an extended warrenty? If so what
are the features of it?Thanks

Andy,
WOW!!! Thanks for the info. This is just what I wanted to
know about 4:2:2 capture. I’m excited that the FX1 can do it.
I’m wondering if the Prospect HD will allow for a fast portable
to capture the HD video. If not, that brings up another idea,
will the FX1 output 4:2:2 SD video out the analog port? Thanks again for all the great info. I’m reading the blackmagic
pages now. 🙂Mark

Andy,
I did ask on the AE forum about HDV keying and all I got
was that since it is still compressed HDV has the same problems.
It’s good to hear that the extra resolution helps.
THANKS so much for the other links. I had no idea that the
FX1 had analog outputs that allow capturing uncompressed HD
via a analog capture card. This is an excellent idea. It seems
that if one had a portable PC with an HD capture card, then
a person could capture HD video anywhere with the FX1.
Am I understanding the links you sent? Thanks again!!!

Martin,
Thanks for the email. I read an article about the new
panasonic camera, but it looks like the memory cards
are more expensive than the camera. 6K for a camera and
8K for a single memory stick(if I remember it correctly).
As for DV, I believe that NTSC DV uses 4:1:1 and PAL
DV uses 4:2:0.https://www.adamwilt.com/DV-FAQ-tech.html#colorSampling
Unfortunately niether PAL nor NTSC DV is great for
chroma keying… Guess I’ve got to start saving for the
big camera. 🙁Thanks again for the help.

Albert,
Thanks for the book recommendation. I’ve seen the book
in stores, but haven’t really taken a look at it. If there
is a good section on AE keying with DV, I’m going to buy
it!!! 🙂
So you see compression effects. Are they pronounced if you
do the keying with HDV but then convert to DV?Thanks

Mike,
Thanks for the response. I’m glad to hear that you are getting
decent results. I assumed that the HD resolution would help,
especially if your ending resolution is DV.Mark

July 20, 2005 at 5:26 pm in reply to: Need advice on creating Encore chapters in PremierTo export an MPEG from PPro and have the chapters
appear in Encore, you must give the chapter a
name and copy that same name to the comments section.
For some reason, if I don’t do this, then the Chapters
are lost in the MPEG video.Mark

July 19, 2005 at 12:51 am in reply to: Need advice on creating Encore chapters in PremierA real simple solution to the problem with the chapter
skip not working(with the 8 timelines) is to put a
chapter marker at the end of each timeline in Encore.
If there is only one chapter marker in the timeline,
then there isn’t anything for the chapter skip to do
when you press it on the remote. I’ve done this before
and link timelines, works great!!Mark
