OT: Where to purchase Sony FX1?
Posted by Mark Weaver on August 11, 2005 at 10:55 pmDoes anyone have any experience good or bad with
a particular online camcorder vender? I’ve seen
prices for the FX1 from $2600-$3700 online and
wonder what the disadvantages are of taking the
lower priced one.Thanks in advance

I bought mine from them. But you might be able to find something local at a brick and mortar store for the same price. Keep in mind that B&H does not charge sales tax if you are not in NY, but does charge shipping.
Whoever you buy from, check https://www.resellerratings.com first.

August 11, 2005 at 11:21 pmSteven,
Thanks for the quick response. I’ve been looking
at BHphoto and glad to hear that you got yours okay.
Did you purchase an extended warrenty? If so what
are the features of it?Thanks

August 12, 2005 at 3:24 amI got the Mack Warranty. I am not sure if I would do it again, but I certainly wanted a warranty of some sort. I really wish there was someone local – or rather – the new local for me – which will be in Orlando Florida in a few months. I hate to think about sending it off and being without the camera for a few weeks.
If I could figure out my wife’s filing system easily, I would tell you more about the Mack Warranty. But, alas, it is buried somewhere.
In any case, look here: https://www.mackcam.com/warranty.html

August 12, 2005 at 3:50 amSteven,
Awwww dang… Thats what I thought when I read about the MACK
warrenty. Like you, I don’t like to ship my camera away for 2-3weeks.
It would be nice if there was a local rep.
I went to the website you mentioned and got the phone number. Wow,
was that futile…. I just got into the “Press 1 for sales, 2 for service,
3 for joe somebody….” etc… etc… One big voice message loop.
I guess I’ll keep looking for a warrenty package.
Good luck with the move. Orlando is beautiful and you very close
to the ports for all the cruise ships. My wife and I love going on
cruises. Well actually we love going anywhere in the carribean. 🙂One last note, if you figure out your wife’s filing system can you
send me the method? I’m hoping it helps me with understand my wife’s
filing cabinet. (It like the purse, I never go into it)Thanks for the help.
