If it’s one of the LED billboards where one pixel-one bulb, that could explain the relatively low resolution. I think you have to go back to the clients and ask more questions, I know it’s embarrassing, but getting the deliverables wrong and wasting time and money os MORE embarrassing.

You can make any aspect ratio file you need in AfterEffects, but how are they playing this out?

A free shortcut method I use to get the transcript is to upload the video to an unlisted YouTube account. You Tube swill automatically transcribe/ caption it, and give you a choice of file formats for the caption file.

The quality of the transcription depends on the clarity of the audio; I find with clear single-person voice, it gets about 90 percent right. With accents, multiple voices, poor audio, it may go as low as 60 percent but the mistakes are hilarious. Thankfully, there’s an editing function right in the YouTube interface where you can correct the mistakes and add punctuation and names of people speaking. Definitely faster than hand- transcribing, and it’s free.

Take the. SCC or .VTT file with timings from the YouTube site, drop that into Premiere, good to go.

If it demands dual-layer, your run time / file size/ bit rate is making file likely longer than 2 hours.

You can make an HD program on DVD-R discs, but not every set-top or built-in DVD player will recognize an MPEG4 or h.264 file burned that way. Standard def mpeg-2 DVD video is 720 and that’s all, if you want full compatibility.

If this is an actual game session, I kinda doubt you’ll get to ad ANY supplemental lighting except for *maybe* an on-camera light. If it’s a staged even specifically for shooting footage, then you can do anything you want.

Laser tag games don’t “require” darkness-the beams are Infra-Red, and for insurance purposes, the game areas usually have adequate and artistically arranged lighting so people running around don’t get hurt. Though I can imagine a few areas might have spookier lighting in them, that’s likely not the case overall.

My gut says to hang a variable-powered LED panel on the camera and just do what you can, if it’s a real game. If the gaming area is kind of open, and there’s a balcony for spectators, maybe an LED follow-spot, aimed at your “hero” from a distance, manually tracked by a helper?

(Was doing this back in the 80’s in Arlington Heights, IL when it was called “Photon”. You wouldn’t believe how bulky the gear and helmets were)

The up-front cost isn’t as big a deal if you depreciate it either 2 years or 4 years. Quite a value, I’d say. Unless… something pops up in real-world use that wasn’t found and fixed in testing.

I have a very nice, older but well-appointed large imac sitting “on ice” in storage, with a full FCStudio setup, because of a blown graphics card, and even if I bought a used or reduced cost OEM card off eBay or someplace now and installed it myself, it’s, financially speaking, almost a wash versus buying a new regular iMac retina at around $2k, considering the rest of the old imac has wear and may manifest other failures… And the OS upgrades may also cause the repair to become moot.

Will the new imac pro manifest any issues with overheated boards or whatever? I’d rather let someone else beta test it for a year or so for me, to find out.
