Agreed, I don’t think the format really matters – but my understanding is that TIFFs actually carry more overhead – more important, though, I would resample your images down so they are not so large since you are scaling them to 33% – that will improve performance greatly – and, since Motion’s scaling algorithm is not as good as you’ll get in Photoshop (or even Preview IMHO), they will probably look better.

Replicator a replicated object in 3D space will force it to become rasterized. You’ll need to just make as many copies as you need by duplicating. Motion’s not the best app for this sort of thing.

DV or HD, doesn’t matter – you still need to check your sequence settings and make sure everything is set up correctly.

Could be a corrupt font or a font that is only in User and not in root – check FontBook.

Can’t get there from here. Motion works with flat planes in 3D space, like After Effects. You’ll need a 3D app to do that, like Cinema 4D.
