Motion is much more flexible for the design but if your video is long, I would make it a Motion template and then apply it in FCP to use it.

You could do this very easily without a template simply by arranging and masking your two elements in the Canvas.

If you are going to render a movie with alpha, you need to use a codec that supports an alpha channel. ProRes 422 does not. ProRes 4444 does. That’s what the extra “4” is for.

1) The Active Camera view needs to be the selected view (yellow band around it)

2) You need to be dragging on the first Move icon in the HUD with the command key

If you’ve renamed the layer, your name will stick. Otherwise, it will be replaced. That’s how it should be working.

Generators, transitions, and filters don’t make the trip from Final Cut Pro to Motion. You can only send video and stills.
