Looks great. With all of the light behind the person his shoulders and top of his head shouldn’t be dark. The edge of the shoulders should indicate that light is hitting his back. Just my impression. Looks great.

Not really, this is just me doing some test. Maybe ill toss it in my demo reel when its better. When are you going to be getting some more tutorials out and when are you going to design “Video Copilots, Optical Flares” plugin for Motion lol…. I hope apple makes a better lens flare plugin.

Ha Ha, that’s great. All eyes are on the Super Meet this Tuesday to see if they announce a new version of Final Cut Studio. Maybe with a better lens flare.

Looks good. It’s hard to tell with the quality of the you tube clip, but he stands out a little to me (aside from the lighting that Stephen already mentioned). I think it’s because I’m seeing haze in the bkg, but not really any on the foreground. Perhaps some light wrap will fix that. What did you use to key him?

I went into after effects for the key. Keylight is in my opinion the best keyer out there. I hate that there is no support for Motion tho.

You should try DV Matte Pro, or Conduit for Motion. I get just as good a key from those as I do from Keylight. The best part being that I don’t have to key in another app. If I’m forced to use Keylight, 9 times out of 10 I’ll just stay in After Effects for the whole thing.

dvMatte Pro or Conduit from dvgarage do a great job of keying in Motion – in real time no less.

Thanks for the advice on keyers. I also like going into after effects because i can key + export my dslr footage to pro res 4444. Doesn anyone have any suggestions on an easier way to convert my footage?

I wish motion had an export to layer feature that would allow you to convert footage right inside of motion.
