November 14, 2013 at 1:32 pm in reply to: Any idea why publishing a generator creates such a huge file?I would check the Media tab (next to the Layers tab in the Project pane to see if you are referencing multiple copies of the same media somehow. I’ve never seen a project grow in size like that – seems very odd. Even if it were referencing the same media, not sure if that would increase the size. I’m assuming you mean the project itself, not all the consolidated media that it references.
You could also do a save as to see if that helps. Or, copy-paste all the layers into a new empty project.

Motion is a full 64-bit app (as of Motion 5) and uses all your available RAM.

For that price you should buy Motion – in addition to an outstanding keyer, you get a full-fledged motion graphics application.

The keyer in Motion 5 is significantly better than the one in 4, I’d highly recommend you upgrade. For $50, it’s worth it for the keyer alone.
Or, if you have FCP X, it contains the same keyer.
We’ve got a bunch of free tips on MacBreak Studio for how to use it.

August 22, 2013 at 4:44 pm in reply to: Adjust Control points tool not working in 3D Space, Camera Left (Motion 4)Shape control points only have X and Y coordinates – as you can see in the Shape Inspector. In other words, shapes are always on 2D planes.
For a spiral motion you can use a Motion Path behavior – the control points for it can be moved in X, Y, and Z.

Not sure what you mean – Motion 5 is already deeply integrated into FCP X – all the effects, transitions, titles, and generators that FCP X contains in its Browsers were created with Motion 5. Perhaps you are requesting a roundtripping feature like we had in Motion 4/FCP 7?
