Adding some noise can help break up the banding – use the Noise generator, set the opacity very low, overlay blend mode.

I’d recommend upgrading to the new Final Cut Studio so you can use the Framing behavior in Motion 4, and add depth of field (the upgrade’s only $299 for the entire suite).

I’ve had the same issue, probably memory or graphics card related. Exporting as Animation or ProRes 4444 first is essentially lossless and not double-compressing

Yeah, I only figured it out because I just had that issue with a project I was working on – the artist I got the project from had created an animation and then disabled it – which is very hard to find!

What you want to do is to set the group to fixed resolution (in the Group tab of the Inspector).
Groups by default expand or contract to the size of the objects they contain. By fixing the resolution to the size of the project, your filters will behave the way you want them to.

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish. If you want to stabilize the clip, just use the Stabilize behavior, you don’t need to apply the analysis separately. Or you can use SmoothCam in FCP, it does the exact same thing.
