Banding
Kind of a novice with Motion. When creating a project, and adding a vignette, playing it back with the animation codec looks great. The problem is it has to be in 264. Every time I encode the project with the highest quality settings using 264, I get banding. Any ideas on how to eliminate this?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Adding some noise can help break up the banding – use the Noise generator, set the opacity very low, overlay blend mode.

It seems like you both have the same concept. Mark, I was working with your idea for a while, and got a little improvement. Stephen, once I tried the Color Correction – Reduce Banding Filter… Yahtzee!

HI everybody,
I just wanted to say that when exporting movies with gradients in H264 codec binding is something that occurs all the time. This is all to do with how quicktime H264 examines and compresses the pixel. The solution is always to add the noise (thanks Stephen for point to the Reduce Binding Filter). If you rely want to know why this happens Grayscale Gorilla has a good video tutorial were he talks about this subject. Please note it is for After Effects users, however solution to the problems is identical to Motion Users.
