Its funny, I always felt like an idiot editing sound in FCP7 as it usually took me a few swings to get an edit right. When I started editing in X the first thing that jumped out at me was precision which with I could edit audio without much effort, and this was on my first project when I hardly knew WTF I was doing with the program.

I may have gotten my terms core and processor mixed up but I can tell you on my old mac pro FCP7 never used more than 2.5 gb of ram and only one proc.
I can’t speak to PPCC since I don’t use it at all. I do know that i regularly do things in FCPX that would cause an outright choke or crash in FCP 7, like a long time lapse sequence with 4k photo .jpg stills, and do it with out breaking a sweat. I don’t really care what NLE people use to edit. I’m just saying that FCPX certainly gets the job done faster for me with less sweat. FCP 7, while an oldie but a goodie, feels pretty creaky to me these days.

FCP 7 runs on 1 processor and is limited to 2.5 gb of ram, doesn’t work well with native camera files, which is why I have moved on to X.

Duh – you’re right . I’m confusing the capabilities of the Ki pro quad with my 7Q which when ever the code boys catch up to the marketing people over at convergent will have higher frame rate capabilities.

the Ki Pro Quad will record 60P 4k with dual link from the C500. The 500 will only do 60P in 4k. The 120 frame rate on the 500 is only available in 2k mode as far as I know.

the cause of the green glitches may not be the camera original recording but the software you are relying on to play back the clips on your computer. Frequently a out of date or wrong plug in can cause the green glitches, I’ve seen this happen with P2 files in the past .
I’ve had my C300 for more than 2 years and have not had any green glitch problems in that time and have shot thousands of hours of material. try playing back your original cards in the camera if you have them, chances are they play normally, which would likely point to something downstream of the camera, which is to say your computer and the software it is using to play back/transcode clips.

answering my own question : select when done “do nothing” and then you can determine where your shared file goes.

Ah but there is a clue. If 720 on the 7D doesn’t look so good to start with, scaling it up to 1080 isn’t going to help the look at all.
