I’m wanting to shrink the browser window a little bit on my secondary display so I can get to other apps I might need and keep them in the secondary display. I guess I need to figure out if I have set my secondary display to full screen.

I have an old mac mini on the shelf that is OS 10.something -something, more than a few versions back . Its my fall back scenario though I don’t have 7 installed on it, but isuppose I could install it if I needed to .
I get your point about options but realistically how long do companies have to support legacy software ? I’m still running Word from 2008 on one of my machines, but that’s just dumb luck, and I suppose once the Mac OS no longer supports 32 bit apps, that version of Word will be dead.

The media foundations of FCP7 and X are completely differerent. FCP7 was EOL 7 years ago. In the word processing/spreadsheet world not a lot changes in 7 years. Seven years ago in the motion media world there was Red, AVC 100, Sony’s 1080 format, DVC Pro, Phantom, maybe. Now we’ve got 1080, from 35mbps long GOP thru 12 bit 4:4:4, 2k, 4k, 4.6 K, 6K, 8K in a myriad of formats, containers, so yeah FCP 7 is called legacy for a reason. Its a 32 bit app, & could handle 1080 file or tape based material with some ease, large custom formats with less ease and couldn’t handle the multitude of file based formats we have with any ease. Time to move on. On rare occasions I miss 7, but only when a client calls and asks about whether something that was shot and edited a long time ago, and I have to jump thru some hoops to get it back.

Re reading this thread just now, it finally sinks in that the OP Anne Marie wanted to “subclip” long interview clips and then rename those subclips something more appropriate to her project or way of thinking.
I do that by selecting a range , making it a favorite and changing the default “favorite” to “Bob explains why….” which is the way I name a clip range, in this subclipping scheme and then in notes field I can add a summary or verbatim text of the subject.

I’d argue that Apple’s phone business and mac business are almost the same, with the difference being one computer you can carry in your pocket and the other computer you can’t. Oh and the computer you can put in your pocket also incidentally, can make and receive phone calls.

The files do seem to be gone. I use neofinder to catalog my ever growing stack of hard drives, so yes I’ve searched with neofinder and spotlight. Its weird – everything is gone. I’m not blaming FCPX in any way – its likely pilot error in this case .

What I’m really struggling with is digital forensics. I’ve only got a back up of the original library& project after I had shuffled some things around so the relinking isn’t offer any help. This is effort has become a lot of pick and shovel and I fear the library has been lost some how. I found 8 random clips from the library I brought into another library so at least I have that, but its not much.

I was rooting around in the inspector hoping to find the info I need buried there, but no Luck. You’ve given me 2 ways to look deeper into the so my hope is to now find the trail of crumbs back to the original files.

Maybe have your buddy zip the file prior to uploading?
