  • Why not just play the animation back on a real TV, and use that to light the person while shooting them?

Then roto them out, and composite your screen….Won;t get more realistic than thhat, and probably be a lot easier than trying to simulate it digitally…

Your fractals question was pretty generic and broad…what are you trying to do?

As for the other question, I’m surprised you were able to open it in R8 at all. Cinema files are not backwards compatible…

  • Well, besides learning loads (more from actually answering questions than I did from asking them ..go figure…) from the good folks around here, I’ve met some really great people and made a few good friends…Like Ron and Kathlyn, who are genuine people without pretense……..and the good folks at artbeats, total training, etc…….. and a whole lot of individual people I haven’t met in person as well as some that I have that are really great……

The Creative COW……….Not your ordinary pasture…..

There are some free image maps designed for use in 3D materials that can be downloaded from TruEarth..I’ve used them before and they are pretty nice….Can’t beat the price…:)

[joe] “PS- By the way its Saturday, take the afternoon off and enjoy!”

    That sounds nice “in theory”….LOL

I’m trying to create some blueprint sized documents, so the document setup page did the trick…Just changed it to 24″h x 36” w, and all is well…..

    Thanks,

Digital Mixers are getting less expensive all the time…..A mixer I’ve had my eye on for a while and will probably get eventually is the Tascam DM24…… sixteen mic pres, 24 analog ins…upgradeable to 32 mic pres…has adat in, tdif in, s/pdif, total recall, flying faders, on board TC reverbs, compressors/limiters/eq on every channel….etc, etc. etc…two of them can be cascaded with an optional card (they literally become one mixer)…

I’ve seen them on ebay for under a grand…..nice mixers.

No, Cinema files are not backwards compatible…..Too many changes from version to version to even make it remotely plausible for the programmers…

All you can do is to export modles in standard 3D formats…ie DXF, 3DS, OBJ. etc…

  • I’m experiencing the same thing… I have’t reported it ‘yet’ as I don’t really know the cause..I upgraded both cinema and my os simultaneously…(OSX 10.3.9)

In posts like this, it’s helpfull if you list some info about your system, your OS, and the version of cinema you’re using..

With bodypaint, this would be a snap… but you can also use a plugin called uvw to bmp that will flatten your mesh so you can map the image properly in photoshop.not positive if the plug works with current version of cinema, but the plug is free so it will cast nada for you to find out…

I did this tutorial here at the cow way back when cinema was at version 6….It’s exactly what you’re asking for…..
