    Oh yeah….

Almost forgot…I use balck as the color in the reflection channel, and then max out the brightness (reflection intensity)….

One thing I find helpful is to apply some 3D noise to the luminace channel…I like to use VL Noise..Then check “use as environment” and blend to taste….

Play with the clipping, and scale (make it pretty large)….

Also ad a lot of specular (ie 1000%) with a very narrow width (ie 5% or less, even less than 1% is okay)…adjust to taste.

The highlight filter, used judiciously, can add a lot of realism too…

There was a tutroial in the original ‘dynamics’ module manual that created a scene where a coin was dropped into a glass of beer….

Get your hands on that tutorial and that should give you a pretty good head start on your soda. Just change the color…:-)

I spent days trying to mimic those experiments a couple years ago… I had some pretty good success after ‘a lot’ of trial and error….

Unfortunatley, I don’t remember the exact solution, but Adam is on the right track. You need to experiment with clipping and shadow, bump and displacement…But more than that, the effect is achieved through ‘lots’ of spheres…It becomes a render monster after a while. Be sure and up your ray depth and shadow depth too, otherwise only the first few spheres will render properly….(That drove me nuts for a while).

Good Luck! if you’re like me, trying to duplicate Jeremys experimants will lead to a lot of your own ideas…Jeremys’ website is a boon to us normal cinema users as it encourages us mere mortals to push our imaginations into overdrive. It’s amazing thathe came up with these ideas when he did, considering where cinema was at and that no one else was doing that kind of stuff. He’s a very creative guy…

He must also be very tenacious, because processors were pretty slow when he was doing that stuff in comparison to now.. You should get off a lot easier than I did, trying to do that stuff with a G3/350. I imagine whatever Jeremy originally used was even slower than that.

Where do I find all my ols Serial Numbers (for various apps)?

If at all possible, I’d really prefer not to have to dig out all the boxes, etc. and reenter a kazillion SNs again.

    Thanks much,

So I’ve wiped my main HD clean and reinstalled 10.3 on it.. So far so good.

I’m busy copying all my apps and what not over.. I’ve come to system preferences.

I’m assuming this is where all my network settings are. Can I replace the newly created 10.3 system preferences with my old 10.2.8 system preferences so that all my network/internet settings will work?

    Thanks,

How can I choose OS9 during a rebbot….Unfortunately, all apples manuals are electronic now, so unless your computer is working fine you can’t read them..Of course if your computer is working fine, you don;t need to..

Should I use my software restore disks that came with the G4 (OSX 10.2)?If I were to do this, would it hose any data?

    Thanks,
Paddling against the stream as fast as I can,
