So what will happen if I open a CS4 file with a Red filter in CS5? Will it crash or just ignore the Red filter?

Sure. Did you paint that on the background?

Thanks Matthew, but I meant like painting on an image with a wide paintbrush … with bristles. Maybe use some kind of streaky background mixed somehow with the original image so the edge is streaky as the paint edge moves along?

    Does that make sense?

Matt, did you find out if there’s any chance of getting Red support for H.264-encoded mp4 files?

I’m not sure if it’s imported as a still, but it’s definitely motion-free. I’ve sent another sample.

    Thanks.

Matt, with “all files” checked I can see and import my mp4 files … but they won’t play. I sent you another file to see if they play for you.

    Thanks.

Matt, I sent you an MP4 sample. Did you get it?

Peter, changing the extension from .mpeg to .mpg worked for my HDV camcorder files but RED really doesn’t like the movies. They barely play.

They’re 1080i resolution, but when I import them into a 720p file in Premiere and apply a Boris filter, RED is delighted with them. Can you recommend a file format for me to transcode my camcorder files into so that RED can import them and they’ll match the 720p resolution?

Using Adobe Media Encoder I tried converting to a 720p H.264 file, but RED didn’t recognize the .mp4 extension and couldn’t read the file if I changed the extension to .mpg.

I’m on WinXP. Thanks for your help.

    Mark

Peter, either standalone or from CS3, my HDV files don’t show up in RED’s import dialog — only .mov, .avi, .mpg and a few others. Are they supposed to? Is there some other HD video format RED will import directly?

If not, is there a workaround?

    Thanks,

Matt, did upgrading to 4.3 solve your problem? If not, what did? I have a similar problem that showed up out of nowhere, but upgrading didn’t help me and I’ve run out of ideas …
