If I upgrade to Premiere Pro CS5 can I still open CS4 files with Red 4.3 filters applied, or do I have to wait for the Red 5 update? Exactly how incompatible is 4.3.3 with CS5? It’s the only thing keeping me from upgrading!

    Thanks

Red 4 is not 64 bit therefore it will not install into CS5 currently.

So what will happen if I open a CS4 file with a Red filter in CS5? Will it crash or just ignore the Red filter?

I suspect that the filter will simply be ignored and doubt that the presence of an unsupported filter in the timeline could cause a crash. You can always open the CS5 project with the caps lock enabled, which prevents on-screen rendering, and then navigate to the section where the RED filter is in the timeline and remove it before releasing the caps lock.

    Cheers,

    Peter.
