Spend the time, money, and effort to get your client to understand the limitations of the equipment you’re using. You’ll be glad you did.

Using this tool, I came up with the following results:
320 gigs = 20 hours (with 4 ch audio)
Or, you can just use Michael’s “16 gig/hour” figure.

You are saying that these anomalies have occurred on OUTUT, correct?
If that’s the case, I’d suspect that some of your audio renders have gotten out of whack. I’d suggest you
rerender all of your audio tracks. Chances are, this is a render issue. Only other possibility is if your audio path is somehow getting accessed by another signal source within your set up. Is is a DIRECT connection between deck and computer? No mixer or “house feed” any where between you and the deck?Mark

Brian, You’re taking a risk getting on an airplane, eating bad food, traveling in a car. Life is a risk.
These cards are no greater risk than anything else. I think you can’t quite wrap your head around the notion that such a cheap card could actually work. They do! (With the awareness that “overcranking” is not possible).
A proper production workflow would have you checking and copying the cards on set or that night. So
once you’ve confirmed and captured/copied the media, where’s the risk?Mark

I believe that the small LCD panels on the deck will NOT display a 23.98 picture. Someone can
correct me if I’m wrong, but on our HDCAMsr’s that’s the case.So, do you have a monitor connected to the deck that CAN display 23.98 images (Like a plasma screen?).

True. He has every right in the world… but anyone can sue anyone for anything. If the opposing party goes beyond just a “threat” to sue, and actually obtains a restraining order, then yes, it’s time to “lawyer up” and defend his rights to produce the show.

I agree 100% with Mr. Jones. If you’re not taking care to maintain sync, you might as well just run “wild”.
Off by a frame means you can’t use “timecode sync” and you’ll be syncing every clip by hand. Not too terrible with just two cameras, but try that with 12 cameras, and the cost of renting the lockit boxes or
establishing a hard wire is well worth it.I’ve been dealing with “jam sync” footage for years, and I can tell you IT NEVER WORKS! Unless you hate your post team, don’t delude yourself into thinking that jam sync will result is frame accurate sync.
