spiro, i used 5mb because 7 would not fit a two hour show on a 4.7 gig disk.
your show is very short, so 7 would be perfect.

its there in the presets… do you not see it?

    hello spiro
i have just burned a 2 hour wedding to a dvd which was encoded at about 5mb, so you should have PLENTY of space if your show is just 3 mins long!
perhaps you have the timeline work area set to 3 hours or something?

    hi
    a very confusing clarification!
but if you were adding effects to one of the clips, it is forseeable that either something was moved or an effect inadvertently resized the image…
cutting out the middle of a single continuous shot will usually work perfectly if the camera and subject are motionless in relation to one another.

    god yeah,
i am coming up against this for the fist time – doing a wedding video for a cousin, and with 3hs of material, the conforming is a large pain in the butt.
    i hope they fix that!

[B.J. Ahlen] “Yeah, when you ask customers to pay $90K for an NLE (XPRI), you can’t expect them to want to learn something new also :O) :O) “

Well, I’m sure you are joking, (not sure what those colons and noughts mean)

As far as people ghasping at Vegas, Ive seen people ghasp at Final Cut’s real time abilities, which is quite a joke considering how often I have heard fellow editors refer to working with FCP as being trapped in render hell.

I happen to share Peter’s dismay at Vegas’ unintuitive workflow. For me a great workflow and powerful media management is far more important than lots of ghasping gimmicky gadgets and gizmos.

but to each their own, of course…

    Hey there Peter

[Peter Corbett] “or the biggest load of confusing claptrap ever unleashed on the post-production community”

    um.
    yes.

A zillion bells and whistles does not an Editor make!

Walking sideways is a paradigm shift which you could probably get used to.
There is probably a reason why Sony’s higher priced NLE systems look a lot more like Avid, Edit, PP, FCP, and not like Vegas.

    Steven,

sorry to bug you but I cannot seem to drag an audio clip from one track to another.

the video tracks drag from one video track to another, but the audio track, unlocked, will not budge vertically

    how does one do it?
    (should this be difficult? sheesh!)

    Hi again Steven

I know it is dangerous, but you only live once, and ts a drag trim thing I do quite often, especially in Documentary type work where I may often trim an audio bit under other video clips.

By the way (now I am on the second tangent to the original topic) do you know if PP can start a project or have a project which by default ALL the audio and video clips are UNLOCKED? The number of times I would prefer clips to be unlocke FAR outweighs the odd occasion where i might want to move V and A together.

    till later

    Hello Steven,

Yes, that is another interesting work around… but its a work around. What if you dont have a conveniently placed empty audio track to perform this work around?

Im truly amazed that PP does not allow you to simply drag-trim a clip in one simple step.

Maybe in V2… and maybe it will allow one to do a simple mark in mark out copy and paste operation too, please god.

    Till later
    Mark.
