    its probably your eyesight mate!
but i know what you mean.

  • Hi Minu,

Thanks, I just tried that, and found I could change the font size/type/colour, but not the position or quality.

It is still very dodgy quality-wise, very pixellated, I don’t know why as it is coming from the system and is not encoded into the picture.

Also the image is 16×9 and the position of the subtitle is halfway over the bottom edge of frame, so part of the text is over the image, part over the black background, and that looks ugly.

Pity though, this may have been a really good solution to CC’s on a NON YouTube website-based video.

    Cheers,
    Mark.

  • Hi Eric and Stan, thanks for the responses!

Yes, I was using text only, I had tried images, and it looked very ropey, so I thought that text only would be smoother… but it just made the text much smaller.

Is there any way to get better quality text?

Flash itself is WAY beyond my skills unfortunately!

  • Hello guys,

    The silence is deafening!
Im going over to the Encore forum, I see encore CAN export SWF format with subtitles… but they are awful quality and now WYSIWYG… so im gonnay find out more there…

I was also looking at MKV (divx encoded) but I could not find a way to import subtitle files to the encoder, so gave up on that.

Hi Craig, not sure why the FCPX article is in the photoshop forum…
Also not sure why people are still bothering about FCPX… but that’s up to them 😉

March 5, 2012 at 9:51 am in reply to: To P or not to P that is the question

Yep, I always shoot progressive as most the time my edits are going to be watched on a computer, not a TV, but it is safer to do progressive, unless your client specifically wants it interlaced.

  • Hi Bala
Thanks for the response. I did not try that…

I tried about 8 different programmes, and one worked, it was called hetman uneraser. It was the only one that managed to get the crucial mediapro.xml file. Some managed to recover that file, but the contents were “gobbledigook”. The real file has english script in it.

    cheers,

January 9, 2012 at 11:51 am in reply to: AVCHD premiere elements osx mac native?

    Hi Jeff,
Yeah, I have CS5.5, but my friend cannot afford that and is wanting to edit home movies only, so there is no need for anything like CS products for him…

I suggested he download a trial of Elements to see if it worked, I DK if he was successful, do you know if Elements can see AVCHD natively?

    Cheers,
    Mark.
