Whew…..well I thought I was missing something. Thank you for the responses, and anyone else who would like to chime in. I have strongly felt that Sound Forge and Acid should be combined. Personally, I too would love to see Sony come out with an all inclusive audio multitrack program like Pro Tools or Audition. They could leave Vegas the way it is, because the great audio tools make it wonderful for video. However, a solid audio program with TONS of plugins and options for recording would be great.

Maybe they could call it Reno?

I was in the same boat as you not that long ago. I ended up getting a much stronger computer, but still had issues with playback. John had recommended Cineform, and after some tweaking, it works great for me. I would strongly recommend it for editing AVCHD.

    Good luck

My version is definitely newer. I just bought it. Do you think that I can get an older version from them….I can’t seem to find an older version on their website.

Does the older version work well with the 64bit?

    Thanks for your help.

What exactly is GPU support? Is there anyone in the know that has information if Sony will add this support? Smooth as silk playback would certainly make me a happy camper.

    Thanks

So I understand about the Cineform issue. Does anyone know why I can’t see my video in 9.0a when I am capturing from the Gy DV110? It works fine in 8.0c? Has anyone run into this issue?

    Thanks

You should probably post this on the Panasonic forum. I have the camera, and it depends on how you want the footage to look. 1080 24p is nice, but so is 720 60p, just a different look. Which setting you use will determine how much time you have to shoot on each card. It sounds to me like you have plenty of room to do a wedding and the reception, but I don’t know how much footage you plan on shooting.

    Good luck

    Ahhh…success…..

Thank you John. I downloaded the trial version of Cineform and rendered some files and immediately noticed a difference. I checked it against the raw footage as far as CPU usage, and the Cineform AVI used about 50% CPU versus the AVCHD which was using over 90%. I’m still getting the desktop that you suggested, but the Cineform will allow me to do some editing on the laptop if I ever need to. For $129.00 it is totally worth it.

Thanks again for all of your help. You rock!!!!!

Thanks John. I am so sorry for all of the questions, but I am really trying to get a grasp on the whole AVC thing. Once I convert to Cineform, will I be able to just edit those in Vegas and output them as usual?

    I promise I won’t ask anymore questions…..

    Hey John,

Do you think I can take my raw footage from the HMC and render it to something that my computer can handle while not losing quality? I am going to take your suggestion on the new desktop, I just want to see if there is something I can do in the meantime to make editing easier.

Thanks again for all of your help.
