I’m capturing from Mini DV / JVC SR-20 VCR.

I noticed that my hard drive definitely needs defragging. Do you think that could cause this problem?

Hmmmm…. I don’t think I did uninstall V5. Do you think that is what’s causing the problem? I’ve been using them in Vegas 6 with no problems, they just all of a sudden disappeared.

Well, I tried everything, and nothing seemed to work. Here’s how I finally made it happen.

Vegas wouldn’t open the file, but DVD Architect did. I opened the file through DVD Architect and played it through my firewire and dubbed it to a DV tape. From the DVD tape I captured it as an AVI file.

I’m not sure if there was an easier way to do it, but this seemed to work, so I’m happy. I’m surprised that no one seemed to have had this problem before, but now I know a workaround.

Thanks for all of the input,

I didn’t even think about it being an MPEG 4. That could be the problem. Does anybody have a way to change it from an MPEG 4 to something that Vegas will see?

Negative. I tried explorer, I tried importing, and it won’t take it. It says that it is unsupported. I tried to take it from the disc, I tried putting the file on the hard drive and then importing it. Nothing seems to work.

    BTW..There’s no audio.

    Any other ideas?

I just encountered the capture problem as well. The great people of this forum instructed me to download 6.0B to take care of the capture problem. It worked beautifully. You may be having the same problem that I had. Go to the website and download 6.0b and see if that makes your capture problem go away.

    6.0 B cured the problem.

That’s a pretty good idea Tim. It’s 6.0 build 85 I think. I’ll do the newer version and see if that helps. I’ll also try using the vidcap 5 to see if I can get my work done.

What do I need to do to upgrade to a newer version? Can I still use my 6.0 serial number for the upgrade?

Thanks again for all of your help,

I’m not getting it at all. If I use the default which is external, the capture window will not even appear. If I uncheck the external, the capture window appears, but shows that the device is not connected…..

By the way, yes on the preview tab, OHCI 1394 is selected.

Also, I have Version 6.0 Build 84 if that helps.

Surely it shouldn’t be this difficult should it?

    Thank you,

That’s exactly what I do. I go to external, and it does bring up the capture window, but for some reason it doesn’t recognize my JVC deck as connected. However, if I open 5.0 and go to capture, it shows that my deck is connected. I’m puzzled. How can one version see it and the other doesn’t?

    Thanks for your help,
