My client was showing the website to someone and apparently the machine did not have Flash or possibly didn’t have version 8 so the content was blank. There is an flv with playback controls so Flash 8 is required. I watched a tutorial at lynda.com on implementing flash detection scripts using the kit from macromedia. But when a friend tried to view it on his laptop which doesn’t have Flash it did not prompt him to install Flash.

AFAIK a swf file cannot be edited by it’s individual parts-that can only be done in the original fla file in Flash. Even if you take a swf into Flash you cannot edit it’s original components-it’s rendered so to speak. Just like an avi rendered in AE can’t be opened up in AE and be editable-it’s cooked like a cake-you can’t change the amount of sugar in it only in the original AE project file. AE 7 doesn’t import swf-at least it didn’t work for me and the help file only talks about exporting swfs not importing.
How long does it take for Boris to email an installation number?
I downloaded it this afternoon and still haven’t received a serial.
Also, what’ the skinny on Red? Will we be seeing a new version of that soon?

I think you’re going to find it a whole lot easier to just use the stand alone version of BorisFX create your effect with an alpha channel and import it back into Vegas. I use Vegas also and Red. I don’t bother to ever use Red as a filter in Vegas-it just doesn’t work that well. Perhaps for creating a text animation it’s ok but anything complex? No. I just fire up the Red Engine and do it in there.
Render to uncompressed avi make sure you have checked alpha channel (premultiplied looks best in Vegas).Import avi into Vegas and put it on the timeline-right click on clip in timeline choose properties>media tab>select alpha>premultiplied.Movies with alpha channels when imported into Vegas always have the alpha channel setting set at “none” so you have to do this with any you use.
