This could one of a couple of things… First, you may have a bad cable. Secondly, it sounds like you don’t have the cable connected properly.
Maybe a connector is bad or just not pushed into the connection far enough. Wiggle the cable on both ends and see if you get a good picture.
Try another component cable.
Lastly, check in the AJA Control Panel – Analog Out tab and see what format you are outputting. Try either Component Beta or Component SMPTE.

Sounds like you might have a timeline that is interlaced instead of progressive.

True 24p images will stutter on your broadcast monitor. That is the nature of 24p playback on a 60i or 30p monitor. This is because your monitor runs at 60hz power and viewing a 24p clip is out of sync with the monitor.

First thing to solve alot of your problems is to rent a PAL compatible monitor such as the Panasonic BT-LH2600W. You can purchase one for less that $5K and it will solve alot of you PAL headaches. There is NO WAY to be able to judge properly off of you Mac monitor.

As for this, PAL is an interlaced format just like NTSC but at 25 fps. So… 1080i50 (the i stands for interlace) is 25 fps at 50 fields/sec. FCP and Motion are correct by adding the interlace to their sequences.

As for this… Again, its because you are watching PAL over NTSC and there is a real timing difference in the two. Just like watching true 24p through a 60i monitor, you’ll get this strobing thing happening. Your sequence is set correctly, but the Canvas or Viewer windows are going to be scaled down for best performance, thus the rainbow effect you are seeing.

Sounds to me that your production has a serious issue here… If you can edit this properly, they shouldn’t expect the project to look high quality because you are going to have serious problems color correcting and making proper edits. Its kinda like making you drive a VW bug to ship a truckload of products across country just to save a buck.

It’s a service of Apple QMaster inside your System Preferences window.
Open up System Preferences – click on Apple QMaster. If sharing is on, click the button labeled “Stop Sharing” and tell it 0 minutes to shut down. Highlight the line in serivces labeled Compressor. Click on the button labeled “Options for selected service”. If you have a Mac Pro system – Quad or Octocore, select the number of instances to be 4 for a Quadcore or 8 for an Octocore system. Click “Ok” to close the box. Now at the bottom of the page, click on the “Start Sharing” button to start the services.
You, now, have a virtual cluster built. In Compressor, set all you setting for what you are planning to compress. When you click on “Submit” to start compressing, look at the drop down menu called Cluster. You’ll now see your computer name listed as a cluster. Submit this and you’ll have 4 or 8 processors working on compressing your program to whatever you like.
