  • EX1 starts weird render problems

We are doing a documentary. We have shot it all on the Sony Z1U in HD. We just did a commercial to make some more money inbetween the doco and other stuff. We shot the commercial on the Sony EX1. Beforehand when doing the doco the only renders we ever came up with was Previews and the Needs Rendering renders. But since we started the commercial with the EX1 we came accross a lot of unlimited renders and full renders. Which was fine for the commercial but now we are back onto the doco we are still getting the unlimited and full renders and as its a feature length thing that is taking almost a year to cut having to render evething out whenever we move things is a real pain. The sequence settings havent changed for the cuts, so I cant imagine it could be that…

Any help would be great and would lesson the headache this is becoming.

Does your footage match your timeline and are you sure about that?

Make sure that you are using the latest version of FCP.

Thanks guys. I just went through the whole sequence as I’m not actually the editor im the tech guy lol, and in terms of the dark green full renders it seems that our editor was accidentally moving the footage a few pixels or something unknowingly and thats why the renders came up. He is always scared about having highlighted clips and so clicks somewhere else to unhighlight them, only sometimes he clicks the sequence viewer window and moves them very subtly.

    Thanks for you help though,

Makes sense, thanks for the follow up. You can tell him to turn off image + wireframe and then the image won’t move when he touches it in the viewer/canvas, if that helps at all.

Command+Shift+A will also deselect anything in the timeline.
