The lesson here is… Know what you are working with and the background behind the equipment before trying something new.
Sony and Apple have not done a good enough job explaining the Apple ProRes 422 and XDCAM workflows. Its not a tough one, but very different from the norm.

Are you using firewire capture or RS-422?
If using RS-422, just set your prefs to “Warn After Capture”. Otherwise, it sounds like someone hasn’t setup the timecode properly on the camera.
One more thing to consider… Has the camera been set to “Cache Record”?

Try swapping the Kona card and the Ciprico card. Give that a shot and see what happens.

I know that’s right!
I am having real headaches with this and until Apple fixes it, they will get anywhere between 5 – 7 crash reports a day sharing my intense frustration with this.
APPLE!!! HELLO!!! Anyone listening….! Fix this!

Hmmm… Could it be that we have an Early 2008 model that makes the difference? I don’t know, but when I had 10 gig, FCP had no realtime effects or previews until I read a document that apple put out on this issue.
https://support.apple.com/kb/TS1957?viewlocale=en_USI know it doesn’t really say anything about the sizes being multiples of 4 but I have heard people talk about this and it made a real difference in my case. Therefore, I like to pass on the info when folks are having performance issues.
