  • FCP Losing Renders from computer to computer. Intel v PowerPC, Tiger v Leopard

    Hey everyone,

In house we have 25 or so edit bays that share media and render files on a FiberJet SAN. For the longest time we had been running very smoothly as all of the machines were running Tiger on PowerPC chips. However, we’ve recently introduced a few Intel based machines running Leopard.

Here is what we are seeing. We’ll have a show rendered and saved in one edit bay on a PowerPC/Tiger computer. If we open the project back up in the same bay all is fine. If we open it up in another bay with PowerPC/Tiger everything is fine. However, if we open it up in an Intel/Leopard bay it usually loses most of the renders.

Does anyone know if FCP handles renders differently between PowerPc and Intel, or between Leopard and Tiger. If so anything that can be done to fix this?

Additional info: We are running FCP 6.0.5, Quicktime 7.5.5 and FibreJet 2.7.2 on all of the machines. The Intel machines are octo Mac Pros. The G5s are mostly Quad G5s, with a few G4s.

    Thanks!
    -Dan
