Just as a tip… Apple NEVER gives any pre-release info on ProApps products. It was really refreshing to hear Steve Jobs talk about the ProApps updates recently that will be awesome. Sometimes, they don’t even do press conferences before the event, just to add to the anticipation.
They don’t have to… they are the MIGHTY Apple!

You can use Compressor but you can import into Final Cut Pro using Log and Transfer and using this to convert to ProRes422.
But before you go too much further, I would suggest that you look at some tutorials on FCP here on the COW. You really need to be more familiar with the software.

No, you have to import your media thru Log and Transfer. But before you do this, backup the entire contents of your SD cards first. Archive them to DVD or BluRay for later use, if needed.

That’s nice, Rachael. But we need to know what codec are you working with and what codec did you import you Canon footage into. I hope you’re not try to use the native mp4 files. If so, this is your problem. FCP is a professional edit software and mp4 files are just a recording medium, not an edit medium. They will need to be converted into ProRes422 to edit properly.

I agree… But most IT guys are going to setup the Exchange servers for web access for on the road travels. At that point, the iPhone and the iTouch have no issues. But for the life of me, I cannot get Mail to recognize or see our servers at all.
It’s just sad to see that Apple did not put in any backward compatibility into Mail. At least, they could have made an Enterprise version for sale.

I’d run Carbon Copy Cloner on your system drive to make a duplicate OS drive then upgrade to 10.6.6. Remember, repair your permissions after updating ANYTHING. It may make things work that you are having issues with.

I don’t see how it’s not Apple’s fault for dropping the ball on this one. The iPhone and the iTouch can connect to Exchange servers just fine but Mac Mail cannot. Well, that does make it Apple’s issue.

AND… you have to download the Sony Software Transfer program from Sony to use this option. FCP 6.0.6 had complete support but needed the Sony software for import and export.

You’ll have to get an SDXC card reader. Not all SD cards are the same and their readers will not read all SD cards. If your card reader is more than a year old… that will be your problem. Get a new card reader that can read SDXC cards.
