I just recorded some beautiful footage using the Panasonic AF100 using a 64G SDXC card. I am having an impossible time getting it transferred into final cut. I have FCP 6, so I am not sure if this is the problem. I am running on MAC OS X version 10.6.3 if this helps. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Take care.

First and foremost, copy the entire SD card onto another hard drive.

In FCP open up Log and Transfer. Click the upper left corner and select the folder where your data is stored.

Here is a workflow for FCP 7. FCP 6 is very similar.

I can’t even get that far. My mac isn’t even acknowledging the sdxc card. I can transfer my sdhc cards just fine.

You will need a driver for the SD Card reader. Or a newer SD card reader that can read SDHC cards. They are very inexpensive.

thanks for your help. This is a sdxc card, not a sdhc card, though. I tried using the camera for the deck and it didn’t work.

    thanks again.

You’ll have to get an SDXC card reader. Not all SD cards are the same and their readers will not read all SD cards. If your card reader is more than a year old… that will be your problem. Get a new card reader that can read SDXC cards.

Thanks everyone for your help! It is working now. I updated to Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and it recognized the card, but still wouldn’t read it. Then I turned off the airport card, and it worked. Strange, i know…

    Thanks again.

I’d run Carbon Copy Cloner on your system drive to make a duplicate OS drive then upgrade to 10.6.6. Remember, repair your permissions after updating ANYTHING. It may make things work that you are having issues with.

    Elizabeth,

I was wondering what you ever did about your SDXC issue. I use Panasonic AG-HMC150 & FCP latest version. I’m looking to get a SDXC as the storage compacity is higher than sdhc. email me at rushvideos@rushvideos.com
