Keep in mind that typically Sony is about one year behind Apple on support. So far with every level of XDCAM, Sony’s support inside of FCP had been one year behind.
So… As a workaround, use the Sony Transfer program to import your media OUTSIDE (That is to use the stand-alone program to transfer) FCP X and then try to import that into FCP X. If that doesn’t work, you’ll have to transcode everything into ProRes422 or whatever is FCP X friendly.

Yeah… Vimeo is an option but we’ve not had as much luck with it being faster. I’ll admit that our company broadband access is not as fast as it could be but we have what we have.
As for using it for client reviews, is there a time limit as to how long your videos can be? There have been times when we’ve had to put up an entire broadcast episode for an advertiser.

I’m hugely concerned about iDisk. Our company uses this feature quite frequently. Additionally, what about our websites that are created using iWeb. That was the most important resource that we had. Putting up client reviews on the website was a HUGE cost savings for us. Will this go away, too?
WOW…. So many questions… So many holes left by Apple on the future of iCloud and MobileMe.

Thomas, the sole purpose of the Turbo H.264 was created solely for the MacBook Pro laptops. Its also used in older systems, but if you have a newer, say post 2007 Mac Pro, you do not need this device. Even my older Mac Pro 2007 system can render an H.264 video at the same speed as the Turbo H.264 device.
There’s no benefit unless you have an older system or a MacBook Pro and I’d bet the new MacBoo Pro systems will outrun it now with the quad core i7 chips installed.

Have you trashed your prefs?
Sometimes, cleaning the prefs out will cure things like this, and, of course, newer versions of the drivers may help.

Have you checked to see if some of them didn’t accidentally get set to CMYK?
FCP doesn’t like CMYK photos either. If you are still seeing crashes… Delete your prefs and reset your permissions. It would wise to do that anyway.

Well, it sounds like you’re gonna have to check each pic for formatting errors. The first thing I see is that your tiff files are 1500×1500.
I know that FCP can reduce them but that maybe causing your crashing if your importing them all at one time. Keep in mind, when working with still images, try to keep them at around the HD screen size or whatever your project sizing happens to be.
Another thing… You didn’t mention anything about the DPI. If your larger than 72 DPI, this will cause FCP to hiccup and crash, too.
Take a look at this first.
