Are trying to export TO XDCAM HD or export FROM XDCAM HD?
Batch Export from FCP goes to Quicktime ONLY. This is used for backups and multiple masters, not for going to tape or disc.
From your post, it sounds like you have a group of clips that you want to put on an XDCAM disc, right?
Well, if this is the case… Then, its just like recording in the field. One clip at a time. You con only write to disc one at a time for now. Being able to export a series of clips using the correct structure for XDCAM would be a wonderful addition and ability. Hopefully the future of XDCAM holds this.

Shane is right here. What format do you typically air, Kevin? ProRes422(HQ) would normally be used HDCAM & HDCAM SR. It is high quality but can you easily prove the extra space and render time is worth it when you air.
Let’s not get into a flame war on this. I’d like to hear fro Gary Adcock on this. He’s quite the expert when it comes to the codecs.
I can tell you right now that most of us here air on DVCProHD, and some of us air thru XDCAM HD. Besides, I can tell you that all HD stations thru a digital signal air at a lesser resolution than 1920×1080. Most cable outlets air at 1280×1080 to conserve bandwidth.
Kevin, you are correct in your statement of giving the best quality possible but why drive an 18 wheeler to deliver a 13″ TV.
ALWAYS ask clients what quality and level of output before tackling a project._______________________________

ProRes422 is NOT an intermediate codec UNLESS you use the lower end forms that were just made available to us. ProRes422(HQ) is only needed IF you are doing 2k or 4k film (or film out). It will not make your footage any better than it already is. But what it will do is eat drive space and bandwidth.
I dare you to compare the two codecs. Take a clip and place into a DVCProHD timeline, add graphics and render. Now, take the same clip place it into a ProRes422(HQ) timeline and render.
What does it look like? Is it better?
What kind of graphics do you have that makes you think that you need ProRes422(HQ)? What is your primary output for this project?
Just question that need to be asked every time you start a project.

[Rafael Amador] “Any rendering to a GOP based format will be more slow.
However the difference in time between the two system is difficult to understand. “Very true, Rafael. You’re absolutely right. That’s why we usually edit in DVCProHD, but… when time becomes very tight, we’ll import the XDCAM HD footage and edit from that, rendering to ProRes422.
I tried another experiment last night. I changed my render settings back to XDCAM HD and exported my programs to XDCAM HD. I used Batch Export to export two sequences that were edited in XDCAM HD. Both programs took 2 1/2 hours to export. This is compared to the program I exported the night before, one single timeline that was edited in ProRes422 and exported to XDCAM HD. if you remember, that render took 7 1/2 hours.
This will mess with your mind, won’t it?

I have a new record for sluggishness!
I just exported an XDCAM HD sequence, checked Make Self Contained and left it to output overnight. This was a single 30 minute episode with bars, tone and slate. It also included commercials.
Time to output: 7 1/2 hours!
Under FCP 6.0.6, the same program would take about 40 minutes.
So…. With that… Someone at Apple has broken something. Its not the fault of Sony because the same drivers used under FCP 6.0.6 render in approximately 40 minutes.
By the way… Exporting to a reference file still takes about 2 1/2 hours instead of a few minutes.
This issue is really really bad with XDCAM HD but ProRes422, even though it renders terribly slow, does export faster… much faster. Let’s say about 25 minutes for the same program.

Yes, there is a well-known glitch with this at the moment. It seems as if Apple isn’t too concerned about this.

Not in FCP, but in Photoshop CS3 & CS4, frame by frame rotoscoping.

Ok… I’m sorry that I misunderstood what you were doing. In that case, you only options that I’ve used were to create your videos in mpeg2 or mpeg1 files. You’ll loose some quality and they will be letterboxed, but you can play these anywhere.

Here’s what I’m talking about…
I just outputted a program to a QuickTime ref file. It took 5 minutes to create. I come back about an hour later and output another program. Same specs as the first. Now, FCP is saying it will take an hour to output. Everything is rendered, just needs to output.
This is another perfect example to the sluggishness of FCP7.
