What version of FCP are you using?
This seems to be a consistent issue since the introduction of FCS2 and now has passed into FCS3 but at a reduced rate. Never less, its still occurs to me from time to time. Mostly with Motion files.

Can I ask why you are doing this?
HDV and XDCAM HD CBR are the same. XDCAM HD CBR is nothing more than HDV 25 mbit. So basically, you’re converting to the same format, just a different name. Look in FCP after you convert a file. FCP will report this file as Apple HDV, not XDCAM HD.
Can you fill us in on your workflow?
Maybe I can help you streamline it a little. We shoot primarily in XDCAM HD VBR (1080p30) and edit using either XDCAM HD or DVCProHD. We prefer the DVCProHD format because of the turn-around times (faster renders).

Taking the plunge right now… I’m between projects, cloned my OS drive and downloading the large 223 MB update.
Did you read what I said?
Before taking any updates, I ALWAYS clone my OS drive first. This way, if, there are ANY problems I can clone my old drive back. No having to reinstall, no pulling out of the hair because things are screwed up, just plain ole confidence that I have a backup.
I’m hopeful that it fixes my issues with FCS.

From what I have read, you’ll have to install version 2.5.1 first then upgrade to 2.11.0 and everything will work.
By the way, you did know that Sony stands for, Shipping October Next Year… or Soon Only Not Yet…

There’s nothing wrong with your systems at all. The issue is with Qmaster. It is a known fact that FCP7 and Qmaster do not work together at the moment.
There’s no known fix, other than waiting for a software update from Apple on this.
Sorry… We’re all in the same boat on this one.

I tend to agree with Robb on this. It sounds like a program improperly installed or corrupted.
Have repaired your permissions yet?
Have deleted your prefs in FCP?

Just for fun, Edward. Remove the extra two gig of memory. Memory mismatches will cause issues like this.
It’s worth a shot at the very least.

Wow! That’s amazing. We have two of the same systems and both had lots of issues with RT support using odd memory sizes.
Do you have any RT issues? Are you able to play your clips in real time even with the 3-way Color Corrector applied?
This memory specs also applies to XDCAM support. Mine crashed so much until we found out that the computers had new memory requirements. I have the original 1 gig that Apple shipped with the computers on a shelf. Both systems are running 8 gig of matched memory pairs in order between the memory risers.
As for snow leopard compatibility issues, everybody should be up to speed now, except for Sony as usual.
As for the stuttering issue you are seeing on your program monitor, that is because computer monitors are progrssive scan only monitors. In order to see the siginal properly, you’ll need to use something that will convert your video properly like a AJA HDP2 converter or the Matrox MXO2 series boxes.

The only time I have seen this is when I tried to play HDV on our old G4 or from the system drive (which is a HUGE no no).
