Sounds like that particilar layer has a tiny line in it, whereas the other layers cover it up. It happens… just go into Photoshop and solo that layer, add another layer and make it black or white (depends on the majority of your main graphic) , then remove the tiny line to the right with the eraser.

I second that workflow with Walter.
I’ve been doing this for the past year with a Kona 2 with an AJA HD10A. Now we’ve upgraded to a MacPro with a Kona 3 (cross convert capabilities) and the AJA HD10AVA boxes for component conversion.
I high suggest that you use AJA products for just such a workflow – but that’s my opinion.
Let me give a refresher course in HDV and this came striaght from Sony’s engineers. HDV is nothing more than a data transport stream. It was never intended to be an edit stream. The only reason that you see som much HDV support in products is purely from a marketing stand point. In order to sucessfully use HDV, you need to transcode it into a codec that is an edit stream such as DVCPro HD. Only at that point do you really gain true I-Frame editing and ease of use on the computer’s processors.

You really need to get the cross-grade for FCP. Its only $49 until the end of the year, then it goes up to $199.
Sony Transfer Software version 1.1 will only work with FCP 5.1 and up. FCP 5.1 (and up) give you full support for Sony XDCAM HD in all formats.

That’s what I am using. But let me ask you this… Does the Expansion Slot Utility tell you that your ATTO card is running below maximum speed?

Let’s se… Firmware is updated. Kona 3.2 drivers installed (also occured with Kona 3.1 drivers). Using 2 gig of RAM with 5 more sitting on a shelf (tested thoroughly with Apple Hardware Test). Ran the Expansion Slot Utility and selected default as per AJA and ATTO’s instructions (Selection 2). No 3rd party codecs, other than the Flip4Mac WMV Studio Pro software. Fibre cables are new and check out great.
Yeah…. I’ve gotten every stumped on this one. I even got permission to use the ATTO beta driver, which didn’t even work in my machine so we had to uninstall and reinstall the 2.41 driver for the Celerity FC-41ES.
Gary, what fibre cards are you using? Do you have a new Mac Pro Dual 3.0? How about the graphics card? ATI X1900?
I’m trying everything…. I’m getting desperate to find a solution to this.
