You’ll have to render out your generated video file first then you can send this to Motion.

Very true… But I was answering Greg’s original question on how to monitor it in FCP6.
Now, its up to Greg to have the equipment and to acquire the knowledge of 5.1 surround audio.

To answer Greg’s orginal question…. You need to set FCP6 to the 5.1 surround setting in the Audio Output tab under User Preferences.
After that, follow waht DRW talked about.

I’ve already been doing this before the FCS2 upgrade. Only problem is that I can only play these on the Mac since I don’t have a HD-DVD player yet.

As a cheaper option, Walter. Have you looked into Roxio’s Toast? It can burn Blu-Ray DVDs. I’m not sure about authoring but if it does, it sure would be cheaper.

Not exactly true… I am speaking from personal experience with this. There is a memory issue with the Mac Pro and FCP. Apple recognized this from the start. Take a look at this.

Having 5 gig of RAM in a Mac Pro is probably your problem. I have found that the Mac Pro and FCP like for your memory to be in increments of 2, 4, 8, 16 gig. Odd numbers will decrease you performance dramatically in FCP.

Good ideas… I’ve tried them.
But what I am really looking for is a plugin to either Motion or FCP that will add a flame (upwardly moving) to a video clip (sized smaller as a video box) or to any text or object that it can wrap around.
